MAYA Modelling
First attempt in moddeling:
How it started …………………………………………………………… How it ended
modelling the character was the part of the character creation in which I struggled the most, I couldn’t figure it out how to make the arms and legs that I wanted when designing the character on paper. The first attempt is kinda boxy, in the side view it doesn’t really have a volume, it seems like I actually drew it, not 3D modelled. The second attempt is a bit closer with what I wanted, but I though that combining multiple meshes would be easier and work better, but it didn’t, because the rig wasn’t working working properly. Im happy with the final result, I understood how to start from a cube and turn it in a sort of human frog, by inserting edge loops and espetially thanks to soft selection made the whole modelling experience a lot easier. I’m still not completly happy with the wet painting, it still have some issues, but I dedicated it a lot of time and tried to do my best with it.
Details:
At the beginning I wanted the face to have three rigging bones, in order to make th eyes and nose move indipendently, therefore I was wetpainting each individual part of the head. Only later I realised that with bled shapes I could achive the same result, much more easily.
